FULL-TIME CATALOGUER
For Fine Art, Furniture and Decorative Arts
Overall Purpose of the Role:
Cataloguer is primarily responsible for researching, cataloguing and describing consigned property for monthly catalog sale.
Essential Job Functions
(Duties include but are not limited to the following)
- Research property including authenticity, bibliography, provenance and exhibition history
- Catalogue consignments for sales
- Liaise with the Photography department for shooting priorities and organizing consignments
- Prepare condition reports of consigned property prior to each auction
- Participate in auctions, able to fill multiple roles as needed
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Art History, Decorative Arts or related field
- 1-2 years work experience in Auction, Museum or Gallery setting preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Ability to quickly learn company database systems
- Ability to work within a team environment
Working Conditions
- Working with fragile objects.
- Noise level in the work environment is moderate
